Echtzeit-AGDevice Driver Support for RDMA Networks on L4Re
Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) can be used to decrease network latency and increase network bandwidth in distributed systems. This is achieved by using specialized hardware that supports direct memory access and can handle basic networking tasks by itself without the help of the OS kernel. Native driver support for RDMA capable hardware is still missing on the L4Re operating system. The goal of this project was to create an hardware driver that supports a Mellanox Technologies (NVIDIA) ConnectX-6 Dx NIC on L4Re. The main focus of the presentation will be the various firmware interfaces of the NIC as well as design decisions and implementation details of the driver.
