Abstract : Heterogeneous systems have a big positive impact on increasing the computational power of modern computing devices we have nowadays. But what are the challenges designing that kind of system, and how it becomes more agile for different application domains? The ESP framework from Columbia University proposes an overall solution to easily generate prototype ready system on chips. Additionally, it provides automated solutions for the seamless integration of custom made and third-party hardware accelerators in combination with different cache coherence models for those accelerators. This work examines, how the workflows implemented in the ESP framework can be used and provides flow-charts for every use-case of it.
