Portrait of Professor Gude
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maik Gude has held the Chair of Lightweight Systems Engineering and Multi Material Design at the Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology (ILK) since April 2014. He was born in Münster, Westphalia, in 1970.
Without lightweight design and structural evaluation... our current mobility habits in particular would be neither ecologically justifiable nor economically feasible.
For me, being a professor... means first and foremost generating knowledge and passing it on to students so that they can come up with creative ideas in the future.
Students ... are the most important asset at the university, and they need to be encouraged and challenged.
In the future ... I would like to make lightweight structures and associated manufacturing processes even more predictable and thus make an important contribution to increasing material and energy efficiency.
If I could study again ... I would study mechanical engineering with a focus on applied mechanics or Material Science with a specialization in construction and functional materials.
Excellence ... is a great distinction and opens up wide scope for creativity. At the same time, however, it is also a challenge for each and every one of us to constantly question what we can do even better in order to secure this distinction in the long term.
