Double Recognition for Magnetohydrodynamics at TU Dresden
International Awards for Prof. Stefan Odenbach and Dr. Maria Daniela Contreras Mateus at ICMF 17
At the 17th International Conference on Magnetic Fluids (ICMF 17) in Vienna, Prof. Stefan Odenbach and Dr. Maria Daniela Contreras Mateus from TU Dresden were honored for their scientific contributions in the field of magnetic hybrid materials.
Dr. Maria Daniela Contreras Mateus, a Research Associate at the Chair of Magnetic Fluid Dynamics, Measurement, and Automation Engineering, received the award for the best dissertation of the past three years in the field of magnetic hybrid materials. [MAYBE ADD & INCLUDE IN THE PARAGRAPH: Title of the dissertation, key findings] The award recognizes her outstanding scientific work in this field of research. Following the award ceremony, she presented her current research in a plenary lecture, highlighting a new area of research she is currently establishing [MAY BE ADDED & included in the paragraph: brief description of the new research area].
[OPTIONAL: Quote from Dr. Maria Daniela Contreras Mateus]
Also during the conference, Prof. Stefan Odenbach was awarded the Ronald E. Rosensweig Medal. The medal is one of the highest honors in the international community of magnetohydrodynamics and recognizes outstanding scientific contributions in the field of magnetic fluids and hybrid materials, as well as a commitment to the further development of the research field. Prof. Odenbach has held the Chair of Magnetic Fluid Dynamics, Measurement, and Automation Technology at TU Dresden since 2005 and serves as Chair of the International Steering Committee on Magnetic Fluids.
[OPTIONAL: Quote from Prof. Stefan Odenbach]
These two awards demonstrate the international visibility of Dresden’s research in the field of magnetic fluid dynamics: While the Ronald E. Rosensweig Medal honors Prof. Odenbach’s long-standing scientific contributions, the award for Dr. Contreras Mateus recognizes both the successful development of new research approaches and the promotion of early-career researchers.
