International Laser Conference Hosted in Dresden - doctoral student from TU Dresden honored as Best Young Scientist
For the first time, the International Symposium on Laser Precision Microfabrication (LPM) has been carried out in Dresden from 7.-10. June. LPM is the world’s number one conference of the laser user community where the most advanced developments and recent trends in laser application for fine and precise fabrication of diverse materials are discussed between industry, research and academia.
More than 150 participants took part in the event on site and online. The professional exchange continued on a personal level in a relaxed atmosphere during the evening events.
“For many participants of the conference, it has been the first time since the COVID pandemics started, that they have been on-site in an international event. It was great to meet so many colleagues around the world in Dresden. We really needed to come all together again”, said Prof. Andrés Lasagni, symposium chair of the conference and local organizer of the event.
As a professor at the TU Dresden and one of the directors of the "Center for Advanced Micro-Photonics (CAMP)" at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology IWS Dresden, Lasagni is pleased about the award for two of his doctoral students as "Best Young Scientist". The 3rd place went to Frederic Schell (Fraunhofer IWS), for his talk entitled “Transition and steady-state wettability of laser-textured rough stainless steel surfaces”. The first prize was awarded to Fabian Ränke (TU Dresden), for his research related to “High-speed laser surface texturing of polystyrene by combining novel polygon scanner technology with direct laser interference patterning technique”.
The event was performed at the Deutsches Hygiene-Museum and was organized by the German Materials Society (DGM e.V.).
