Rattling boat building and racing in the Zeunerbau - WiSe 2023/2024

On January 19th, 2024, there was a competitive atmosphere in the air at the Zeunerbau test field. After six weeks of tinkering, designing and building all kinds of rattling boats, the time had finally come: at the Institute of Manufacturing (Chair of Forming and Machining Technology and Chair of Joining Technology and Assembly), the seemingly endless distance of 4 meters was raced and rattled in the still waters of the rain gutter. The groups of two to four students from the first and third semesters had built and launched beautiful, functional and often stylistically very interesting boats at the institute and partly on their own initiative at home. The creativity and commitment in the construction and design of the boats, as well as in the interpretation of the rules, were truly impressive. The rattling boat building offered all participants the opportunity to gain practical experience in manufacturing technology by building their own hull and soldering a designed evaporator and to try it out directly.

The fastest of all the "Knatter artworks" was the team with the illustrious name "Defizitärer Dosen Dampfer". Congratulations on this success and a big thank you to everyone involved for the great preparation time and the fun race evening at the Zeunerbau.
