Resource-efficient forming of aluminum sheet by means of coated laser interference structures on tool surfaces
The topic of the project is the reduction of different resources such as material and energy in aluminum sheet forming by using less material, improving tribological properties and reducing forming tools.
The project deals with the resource efficient forming of aluminum sheets by means of coated microstructures on tool surfaces. The challenge is the adjustment of the laser interference process for the fabrication of forming tools. A study of the influence of structures, roughness, coatings and lubricants on the tribological effect of tooling steels are planned. After the basic investigations the best parameters will be selected and tested on application-oriented geometries. The aim of the project is to optimize the process in order to conserve resources.
