The chair of Laser-based Manufacturing is managed by Prof. Andrés Fabián Lasagni. He received an MSc degree in Chemical Engineering from National Comahue University, Argentina, in 2002 and a PhD degree in Materials Science from Saarland University, Germany in 2006.

Prof. Lasagni, head of the chair, gives the lecture “Laser precision manufacturing” in the winter semester and also offers an international school on laser processing in summer. The professoship also offers students the possibility to prepare bachelor, diploma and master theses in the chair's research topics.

The chair of Laser-based Manufacturing focuses on many topics regarding the application of laser-based technologies, e.g. for functionalizing surfaces of different materials like metals or polymers.
