Equipment
Research activities at the chair require the availability of an efficient IT infrastructure as well as a variety of testing machines and measurement equipment. In addition to own resources, a wide range of special equipment is available due to cooperations within the Institute of Solid Mechanics and with other institutes of the faculty.
IT Resources
The IT concept of the chair aims to permit flexibility and comfort by using self-managed IT systems. In this way, special demands which arise in the development of new simulation methods are satisfied by making local services and suitable working-, development- and testing- environments available. Fundamental services as well as solutions for computationally intensive processes are provided by the Centre for Information Services and High Performance Computing (ZIH).

Testing and Measurement Equipment
A research priority of the chair is the modeling of materials based on the experimental characterization of their mechanical behaviour. Considerable practical experiences with testing equipment - especially optical field measurement techniques - originates from a variety of experimental tasks within different research projects. If it is necessary, the equipment of the chair can be supplemented with testing and measurement equipment of the Structural Durability Group.
