Case study development
The first phase of the project is dedicated to the development of innovative technical case studies that take up real processes from research and industry and thus reflect current challenges and developments in the field of chemical process engineering.
A key milestone here is the Experts School, which took place in Naples from May 5 to 9, 2025. It brought together experts from the four core topics - sustainability, life cycle analysis, process intensification and digitalization - as well as researchers at all career levels from the partner institutions. The aim of the event was to identify relevant industrial processes that can be translated into didactically prepared case studies as part of the project.

In this phase, initial concepts for the case studies were designed, technical challenges analyzed and opportunities for improvement discussed. Following the Experts School, these processes will now be further developed, e.g. by creating interactive process models or simulations that enable learners to independently develop and critically analyze improvement strategies.
This structured, research-oriented approach ensures that the case studies developed are both up-to-date in terms of content and innovative in terms of methodology - and thus build a bridge between research, industry and teaching.
