EVT on the road in the Far East: Review of the 25th International Conference on Fluidized Bed Conversion (FBC25)

Dipl.-Ing. Min Su Sohn (left) and Dr.-Ing. Daniel Bernhardt visited the FBC25 on behalf of EVT.
The 25th International Conference on Fluidized Bed Conversion (FBC25) took place at Southeast University in Nanjing, China, from 14 to 17 April 2025. With over 230 presentations from 23 countries, the long-established event once again lived up to its reputation as one of the most important platforms for scientific exchange in the field of fluidized bed technology.
The focus was on current developments in areas such as the green transformation of energy technologies, AI-supported innovations and sustainable industrial applications. The conference offered a unique opportunity to strengthen international partnerships and discuss forward-looking solutions for the decarbonization of energy systems .
The Chair of Energy Process Engineering (EVT) at TU Dresden was also represented: Our employees Dr.-Ing. Daniel Bernhardt and Dipl.-Ing. Min Su Sohn presented their research on "Mathematical model for the determination of nitrous oxide (N₂O) and nitrogen oxides ( NOₓ ) emissions during thermal sewage sludge treatment in fluidized bed furnaces" (EN: Mathematical model for the determination of nitrous oxide (N₂O) and nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) emissions during thermal sewage sludge treatment in fluidized bed furnaces). Her contribution provided valuable insights into the model-based prediction of emissions during environmentally friendly sewage sludge utilization and was received with great interest by her colleagues.
We would like to thank Southeast University, especially the School of Energy and Environment, for the excellent organization of this important conference and the opportunity to present our research to an international audience of experts. With new ideas, fresh inspiration and valuable contacts in our luggage, we look forward to continuing our work on sustainable solutions for the future.
