Brief description
Objective of the operations within the framework of the cooperation project between the Dresden University of Technology, the Institute for Energy Engineering, the Chair for Combustion, Heat and Mass Transfer and the OSTEC Ltd., Klipphausen, is the investigation of different biomass remnants for suitability for the production of different qualities of technical carbons for material utilization.
Main work areas of the Dresden University of Technology are in general:
- Investigation and choice of materials
- Definition of target criteria
- Preparation and processing of materials
- Characterization of materials
- Adjustment of the necessary laboratory equipment and the pyrolysis reactor
- Performance of test series for pyrolysis of eligible biomasses
- Analysis of the recovered (solid) pyrolysis products
- Comparison of the achieved yields and qualities of carbon with the values of laboratory and literature
- Observation of the processes during pyrolysis, making system balances
- Advising function for the reconstruction of the industrial partner’s pyrolysis oven
- Consultations for the purification of exhaust gas after the pyrolysis process
- Cooperation at the final report
