The focus is on the design and dimensioning of heat exchangers, including their heat transfer surfaces, using the fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science. Energetic, economic and ecological relationships are made understandable. The students are enabled to evaluate the existing technology and to tackle new developments. The basics taught in the lectures are deepened in the exercises using practical examples and in self-study. Existing engineering knowledge is applied and further developed with economic aspects on the one hand and legal and safety regulations and standards on the other.

Examination
The module examination consists of a written examination of 180 minutes duration and a paper with a processing time until the end of the lecture period.
