- Fatigue and fatigue crack growth behavior of metallic materials and material composites (in particular: in the range of very high load cycles)
- Deformation behavior of metallic materials and material composites under static and cyclic loading through in situ deformation and damage analysis
- Material physics or material mechanics based modeling and development of reliable and accurate service life prediction concepts
- Establishing the process-structure-property interaction for the material-compatible design of manufacturing processes through microstructure analysis and in a targeted manner material design
- Digital transformation in Material Science as the basis for data-driven material development
