Jul 24, 2023 - Jul 28, 2023; Summer School
tryING.Korean Summer School 2023 for high gifted Korean students. Trial study on sustainable lightweight engineering
Jeonju, the region around Jeonbuk, is an H2 model region, from generation to storage to utilization. In this area, ILK is particularly active in the topics of H2 supply, transmission, and storage in stationary and mobile systems, and especially interested in hybrid-electric flying and H2-powered vehicles. Jeonbuk National University (JBNU) is an important acteur in the Korean H2 region and is currently increasingly seeking international contacts in Europe. In August 2022, the JBNU President, Prof. Dong-Won Kim and Prof. Niels Modler (ILK Board) signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the future cooperation between the two institutions. As a result, a series of exchange and mobility activities between JNBU and ILK of TU Dresden started in 2023.
In this framework, a summer school for high gifted Korean high school students, mediated by the JBNU, will be held at ILK from July 24th to 28th, 2023. The ILK welcomes 15 students aged 15 to 17, about to graduate from high school and enrolled in engineering or natural science for the upcoming academic year. During the week-long trial study on sustainable lightweight entgineering at the ILK as a model institute, the students will experience first-hand how work is done at world-class European research centers and how this work is incorporated and integrated into university teaching (and vice versa). The program will be structured from a guided tour of the UniCampus and general presentation of studies at the TU Dresden (organized with the support of TU Dresden's School Contact Office) to specially designated workshops, and will be complemented by a series of leisure activities that will present Dresden as an attractive place to study.
