Chair in Aircraft Engineering at the LNDW 2026
Hourly wind tunnel demonstrations delighted many visitors at the Institute of Aerospace Engineering
The technology platform gave a large number of visitors the opportunity to fly the TU Dresden’s research aircraft themselves.
Last Friday, the Institute of Aerospace Engineering (ILR) opened its doors from 5.00 pm to 11.00 pm for the Long Night of Science in Dresden. For the Chair of Aircraft Engineering, the evening was a resounding success, characterised by lively discussions and countless inquisitive visitors of all ages.
This year, we presented our technology platform directly in the wind tunnel of the Chair of Flight Mechanics and Flight Control. The programme offered guests the opportunity to experience science and technology at first hand:
- Hourly wind tunnel demonstrations: Participants were able to observe aerodynamic effects live and in action.
- Interactive flight simulator: Between demonstrations, our technology platform invited visitors to take a seat in the cockpit and control the aircraft’s flight behaviour themselves, allowing them to experience the world of aviation first-hand.
- Research in dialogue: At our exhibition stands, we presented current and exciting research projects, explained technological challenges and discussed the future of aviation with the audience.
A heartfelt thank you goes to all the guests who were there, who marvelled with us, asked in-depth questions and joined us in discussion. The great interest in our work is a wonderful source of motivation for us. We are already looking forward with great anticipation to the next Long Night of Science in 2027!
