Analysis of fiber composite plates

eLamX² allows the analysis of rectangular plates with arbitrary boundary conditions regarding stability, loads normal to the surface and eigenfrequencies with little effort.

Layer stacking optimization

With the current version of eLamX², it is now possible to optimize the layer stacking of fiber composite structures. Hereby, the layer stacking with the minimum number of layers is automatically determined for a given load.

Student research projects

Current developments and new methods in the field of fiber composite calculations are scientifically analyzed, compared and implemented for eLamX² within the scope of student research projects.

Open source composite calculator

eLamX² is an open source, Java-written composite calculator, which is being developed at Technische Universität Dresden, Institute of Aerospace Engineering, Chair of Aircraft Engineering. Calculations are based on the classical laminated plate theory. At present modules for composite calculation including hygrothermal effects, failure analysis and engineering constants, stability and deformation analysis of composite plates, comparison of a multitude of failure criteria and the World-Wide Failure Exercise are implemented. Additional modules dealing with micromechanics, nonlinear calculations, sandwich structures and composite plate vibration are planned or under development.
