Project start "SafeCon3D"
Despite rising safety standards and intensive prevention work to avoid occupational accidents, the construction industry still represents a comparatively dangerous work sector. For example, the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) recorded 52.03 occupational accidents per 1,000 full-time employees in the construction industry for 2019, of which a total of 70 were fatal. In comparison, only 23.50 occupational accidents per 1,000 full-time employees were recorded in the entire commercial economy in the same year. These figures show by way of example that employees in the construction industry are exposed to increased health risks and that there is therefore a continuing need for action in the area of occupational health and safety.
This is where the ZIM project SafeCon3D comes in. In order to reduce the number of accidents on construction sites, informative and automated assistance systems are being developed. By means of position and movement monitoring of workers and construction machinery, these systems will recognize danger areas and warn of dangerous situations. As part of the project, a laboratory construction site is being created that is modeled on typical track construction work and includes a safety control station to demonstrate the solutions developed.
