Empirical design research

Research in design at TU Dresden is predominantly established within the realm of engineering and shares connections with natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences. Our research endeavors primarily cater to human necessities. The outputs of these projects span from foundational knowledge to intricate, innovative, and novel design resolutions, particularly evident in professional contexts involving diverse stakeholders.

Our design methodology acts as an instigator for a multitude of cross-disciplinary research and innovation projects, encompassing both basic and applied studies. Using our demonstrative models, we delve into queries pertaining to the interaction between humans and technology, evaluating potential solutions empirically, both in practical and controlled environments. We ensure our research findings are effectively disseminated to the public, and in collaboration with our partners, we strategically transfer these findings into commercial applications.
