System and information flow modeling
Table of contents
Product development involves thinking ahead about a technical solution that does not yet exist in terms of function, design, manufacture, use and so on. In order to visualize and document the future product, various forms of product representation such as drawings, calculations or models are used. The use of computer-aided methods makes it possible to describe the product digitally. The product model consists of a large number of sub-models such as product requirements, design drafts, CAD models, FEM calculations, work plans or maintenance instructions, which must be managed, stored and distributed in a secure and structured manner. This is the task of product data management (PDM). Its optimal design is a major challenge of modern product development. |
