Student Field Trip of the Chair of Agricultural Systems and Technology 2026
Once again this year, students had the opportunity to experience modern agricultural technology up close during a field trip organized by the Chair of Agricultural Systems Technology. The destination of the two-day trip, which took place on May 20 and 21, was the region of Eastern Bavaria—home to two well-known agricultural technology companies.
Early in the morning, the group set off by coach from Dresden to Bavaria. On the first day, the participants visited the ROPA Fahrzeug- und Maschinenbau GmbH plant in Herrngiersdorf.
After a group lunch in the cafeteria and a company presentation, the program included a guided tour of the production facilities. In a subsequent discussion about practical engineering challenges and solutions, the students exchanged ideas with industry experts. In the evening, the students had the opportunity to explore Regensburg, the city on the Danube, on their own.
The second day began at HORSCH in Schwandorf. After a welcome, the participants gained fascinating insights into the development and manufacturing of modern agricultural machinery through presentations from various company departments. A factory tour vividly illustrated the challenges and prospects involved in manufacturing the machines. In the afternoon, the group finally began their return journey to Dresden.
The field trip enabled the students to expand their technical knowledge, reflect on material from their studies, and establish contacts within the industry.
Many thanks to the companies and their employees for the comprehensive and detailed insights!
A big thank you also goes to the supporting organizations whose financial and organizational support made the field trip possible:
