Cytological laboratory
In addition to using testing and inspection applications for the physical and chemical characterisation of textile high-performance materials, they can also be characterised by biological methods. Particularly for the development of innovative biotextiles and medical textiles, biological charaterisation is an important instrument for the evaluation of potential biological and medical risks of these textile medical products. We comprise technical as well as personnel resources required for the biological assessment of medical products (in-vitro testing for cytotoxicity according DIN ISO 10993-5).
We apply established cytological methods as well as various protein biochemical testing procedures at our cytological laboratory. Thus, we are able to identify protein qualitatively and quantitatively.
The cytological laboratory broadens the range of methods at the ITM, which allows for evaluations of polymer samples, filaments and textile functional models in terms of their suitability for biomedical products.
