Chairs

The Institute of Textile Machinery and High Performance Material Technology at the TU Dresden is the only university research facility in the fields of textile and assembly technology; it comprises two chairs:

Education and research activities are coordinated by both Professor Chokri Cherif, Head of the Institute and the Chair of Textile Technology, and Professor Yordan Kyosev, Head of the Chair of Development and Assembly of Textile Products.

Mr Univ. Prof. Dr.- Ing. habil. Hartmut Rödel has been Head of the Chair of Ready-made Technology since 1996. In March 2018, he entered his well-deserved retirement. Until a new Head of the Chair (W3) of Assembly Technology and Textile Products is appointed, it is temporarily led by Ms Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Sybille Krzywinski.

On August 1st 2019, Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Yordan Kyosev was appointed university professor (W3) at TU Dresden, thus taking over the Chair of Ready-made Technology
with its novel denomination “Assembly Technology for Textile Products” (since 01/2021: "Development and Assembly of Textile Products").

A senior professorship was assigned to Professor Gert Heinrich in April 2017, who provides precious advice to the ITM in terms of various research and education activities, particularly in the field of elastomer research and reinforcements, and the accomplishment of innovative, interdisciplinary research projects.
Prof. Heinrich was Head of the Chair of Polymer Materials and Rubber at TU Dresden until September 2016 and, furthermore, served as Director of the Leibnitz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden e.V. (IPF) until the end of March 2017. Subsequently, he was granted a senior professorship at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at TU Dresden. In addition, he currently performs advisory functions for the IPF, mentors doctoral candidates, and supports several projects. Prof. Heinrich has many years of advanced scientific experience and numerous national and international publications.
