The goals of our partnerships
Table of contents
International cooperation forms the central element of internationalization at TU Dresden. They are developed and practiced at all levels of the university. Our international partnerships support TU Dresden in achieving its strategic goals as a modern, global university.
Strengthening central university fields of activity
The strategic partnerships strengthen specific areas of the university in a targeted manner and focus on different areas. With our TUD | transCampus partnerships, for example, we want to further contribute to the scientific excellence of the TUD and support the development of the university's profile. With our partners in the cross-border region, we achieve a visible impact locally - in topics that affect the region. Achieving an appreciable impact in business and society is the goal of our partnership work in the Global South, too - in India and southern Africa. Technology transfer is a key priority for us as a university of technology. We want to promote it on a global level with our partners in Chennai (India) and Taiwan. Promoting early-career researchers and strengthening our international visibility are also goals that we are driving forward with our partnership portfolio.

The goals of our strategic partnership work
Being globally networked and present in the world
Saxon Science Liaison Offices
TU Dresden is a globally networked player with relationships in all regions of the world.. Some of these are of particular importance for historical, scientific or higher education policy reasons. TU Dresden is actively involved in developing the network of Saxon Science Liaison Offices that have recently been established in several regions of Asia and in South America. The TUD-managed offices in Chennai (India) and Taipei (Taiwan) provide information, advice and support for exchange and cooperation.
Networks and alliances
TUD is also involved in international networks and alliances that are of great importance in terms of expertise and higher education policy, such as the engineering association CESAER and the TU9 Alliance of Leading Technical Universities in Germany.
At a professional level, TUD has developed its own international networks, which stand for the high scientific reputation and diversity of TU Dresden: These lighthouses make an essential contribution to international visibility, attractiveness and networking.
Alumni
TU Dresden also has a global presence through the Alumni Program. They are contact persons on all continents who provide initial contacts and information.
Promoting the diversity of international cooperation
Exchange and cooperation are practiced at all levels at TU Dresden. This is demonstrated by 146 cooperation agreements and almost 400 student exchange agreements (see here for more facts and figures). This diversity is of great importance to our university, as it enables international contacts for all members of TUD - whether academics, students or non-academic staff. New, excellent collaborations are also constantly emerging from this basis. Academics and students have access to the opportunities and offers of their faculties as well as of central programmes such as ERASMUS or the Funding Programme Internationalization (click here for funding opportunities).
