Partnerships and cooperation

The internationalization of teaching and research is an integral part of TU Dresden’s strategic development. This is also expressed in collaboration with international partners. Working closely together, we develop teaching programs, coordinate student and employee exchanges, manage numerous international scholarship programs, and promote international project cooperation in all university areas.

International partnerships at TU Dresden exist on the faculty, department, or university level and cover the whole range from teaching, research, and transfer to business cooperation.

Various support and funding options are available to implement the diverse collaborations.

Liaison Office in Taiwan

TU Dresden operates a Scientific Liaison Office in Taiwan on behalf of all Saxon universities. The objective is to represent and promote scientific exchange as well as the cultural and economic interests of Saxony in Taiwan. The project is financed by the Free State of Saxony.

India

The cooperation in India with the renowned Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) focuses on research collaboration, and structured exchange. TU Dresden is intensifying and expanding such activities with the scientifically aspiring country in order to promote the transfer of knowledge and technology.

Regional cross-border Partner­ships (CZ-PL-SN)

As a cosmopolitan university, TU Dresden contributes actively to the internationality in the region of the Saxony-Czech Republic-Poland border triangle. Therefore, TUD is very committed to the long-standing and active collaborations with universities and other institutions in the neighboring countries. This regional engagement of TUD is presented on the following page.

The transCampus between TU Dresden and King's College London is one of our best-practice examples of existing international collaborations. Complementary research infrastructure is flanked by shared resources that allow the partnership to expand from the life sciences to many other research areas.

EUTOPIA

As a member of the EUTOPIA higher education alliance, TU Dresden is collaborating with nine universities to create a new model for higher education in Europe that is adaptable and confident in addressing the global challenges of the 21st century by focusing on pedagogical excellence, greater mobility, and innovative cross-campus learning and teaching activities.

Partner­ships in Asia and Africa

TU Dresden is actively engaged on a global scale in Taiwan, India, and Sub-Saharan Africa, aiming to develop sustainable solutions to worldwide challenges through research and partnerships. The emphasis is placed on microelectronics, water research, environmental sustainability, and social change, all while pursuing specific UN sustainability goals. Capacity building and international cooperation are central to this strategy. In Sub-Saharan Africa, TU Dresden is implementing numerous projects that foster innovative approaches to addressing regional challenges and enhancing the exchange of knowledge and resources.

Sub-Saharan Africa

TU Dresden is extensively involved in sub-Saharan Africa and carries out numerous research projects in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, and Angola. Its central Africa strategy aims to strengthen networks and promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Special partnerships, such as the one with Stellenbosch University, are supported through excellence funding. These international collaborations are crucial for improving TU Dresden's research, teaching, and governance and contribute to promoting sustainable solutions in the region.
