Generelly the STIBET I Scholarships for the Promotion of Equal Opportunities can be used to support students with special challenges and life circumstances (e.g. due to a refugee background: refugee students from Ukraine and other war and crisis zones, due to health restrictions or disability, due to special care situations of their own children or due to family members in need of care).

Research at TU Dresden
Scholarships and grants
The Philipp Schwartz Initiative of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation
Researchers who are under substantial and persistent personal threat in their home countries can take advantage of this program to continue their work at German universities and research institutions.
Applications for the 12th round of the Philipp Schwartz Initiative can be submitted until October 21, 2022.
The German Research Foundation supports researchers seeking refuge to apply for a position at a German research institution as part of the Walter Benjamin Program.
The German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina supports researchers from Ukraine whose academic careers have been endangered or interrupted due to the war with a scholarship for resuming or continuing their research activities. The funding enables outstanding researchers from Ukraine who have a PhD to work on an independent research project at a university or research institution in Germany for an initial period of one year, while maintaining their affiliation with a Ukrainian institution.
With the MSCA4Ukraine funding programme, the EU is responding to Russia's war in Ukraine. Ukrainian scientists should be able to continue working on their doctorate in European host institutions or as a postdoc on their research. There should be no permanent brain drain. Therefore, as soon as this is possible again, both reintegration in Ukraine will be promoted and cooperation between the Ukrainian higher education sector and the international research community will be strengthened.
The funding runs for 6-24 months, the funding rates correspond to those of other Marie Skłodowska-Curie measures. Host universities are invited to submit institution-wide applications from 24.10.2022.
