Buddy program
The aim of the project
The project aims to support people seeking refuge from the war in Ukraine in taking the first steps here at the university – in particular with enrollment – and in the City of Dresden. We would like to help students and high school graduates from Ukraine get settled in Dresden and help them find the appropriate contacts for studies-related questions and everyday issues.
How it works
The project coordinators set up buddy pairings comprised of a Ukrainian student or high school graduate and a TUD student. If possible, these will be two people who are enrolled in – or would like to enroll in – the same degree program or subject. Once the pairs are matched up, each partner will receive an email with the contact details of the other buddy.
They will then be able to contact their buddy directly. For reasons of data protection, we are not able to provide any personal telephone numbers via email. We therefore recommend that the buddies exchange phone numbers themselves to facilitate communication. We encourage you to plan to meet your buddy in the city or on the university campus to show them around.
As with many other buddy projects, the goal is to help new arrivals in Dresden get settled through friendship and connections.
If your buddy has questions that you can’t answer, feel free to contact us. We will try to answer the question to the best of our abilities, or we will forward you to someone who can.
