EUTOPIA Innovation Challenge 2026 – Experiencing and Reimagining Cultural Heritage in Venice
Would you like to gain hands-on experience, build international connections, and develop innovative solutions to real-world problems? The EUTOPIA Innovation Challenge 2026 offers you exactly that opportunity! From November 9–12, 2026, in Venice, you’ll collaborate with students from across Europe and experts from various industries to explore the topic of “Cultural Heritage” from new perspectives.

What’s the theme?
The challenges designed for this edition invite students to explore how traditional heritage, local culture, and historical spaces can be reimagined to address contemporary social, environmental, and cultural needs. Working at the intersection of history, innovation, and community engagement, multidisciplinary teams will focus on making cultural assets more accessible, interactive, and relevant to diverse audiences, from local residents to a new generation of international visitors. Across the different challenges, participants will tackle themes such as sustainable resource management and creative reuse, the evolution of visitor experiences through innovative storytelling and sensory engagement, and new models for civic participation. Overall, the goal is to bridge the legacy of the past with future-oriented design, transforming traditional cultural frameworks into actionable, inclusive, and forward-thinking solutions.
What is the EUTOPIA Innovation Challenge?
At the EUTOPIA Innovation Challenge, you’ll work alongside students from all over Europe to tackle real-world problems and develop innovative solutions that truly make a difference. The challenge takes place twice a year at one of the EUTOPIA partner universities. In the fall of 2026 , you’ll be there in Venice. Up to 80 students from 10 European EUTOPIA partner universities will come together to think, create, and network.

Who can apply?
In principle, all TUD students interested in the topic of “cultural heritage” are eligible to apply—regardless of their field of study. Interdisciplinary thinking is strongly encouraged!
Up to 8 students will be selected to participate at TUD.
Costs?
Participation in the challenge itself is free of charge. Travel, lodging, and meal expenses will be reimbursed by TU Dresden afterward . After the event, you’ll submit your receipts via a travel expense report.

Application deadline: September 27, 2026, 11:59 p.m. (CEST). The Challenge will be held in English—please submit your application in English as well!
