The theme of the spring edition of EUTOPIA Innovation Challenges at the University of Gothenburg (GU) is The Sustainable City.
Gothenburg is widely recognized for its long-term work on sustainability. The city has received international awards for its commitment to environmental and social sustainability, including repeated top rankings in global sustainability indices for cities and destinations. Gothenburg is also part of the EU initiative for climate-neutral and smart cities with the aim of achieving climate neutrality by 2030. These ambitions make Gothenburg a relevant and inspiring context for this year's Innovation Challenge.
The students will work on case-based challenges on sustainable mobility, urban and neighborhood development, social sustainability and sustainable meetings and events. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, participants will develop innovative ideas that contribute to more inclusive, resilient and sustainable cities.
What is the EUTOPIA Innovation Challenge?
The EUTOPIA Innovation Challenge is your opportunity to gain international practical experience. Together with students from all over Europe, you will work on real challenges set by companies or institutions.
Each team consists of 5 students from different departments and universities of the EUTOPIA Alliance. You will develop creative solutions, discuss innovative ideas and drive change!
The challenge takes place twice a year at one of the EUTOPIA partner universities - in May 2026 you will be in Gothenburg.

Who can apply?
The offer is open to all TUD students. Bachelor's students are preferred, but Master's students can also apply. No specialist knowledge required - only your motivation counts!
What are the costs?
Your travel, accommodation and food costs will be reimbursed by the TUD afterwards. You must submit a travel expense report. Participation in the Challenge itself is free of charge.
