When and where will the Innovation Challenge take place?
From November 17 - 21, 2025 at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Belgium.
What is the theme?
The theme of the event is "Living and innovating in multilingual societies."
Look forward to exchanges and discussions on questions such as:
- How can all people in multilingual societies communicate - even if they do not (yet) speak the dominant language?

What innovative solutions are there for linguistic diversity (e.g. in politics, administration, everyday life)?

How do speakers themselves navigate multilingual environments?

How does multilingualism influence literature, music, film and other arts?

What opportunities and obstacles do artists face in multilingual societies?

How do cultural policy and creative scenes react to this?
What is the EUTOPIA Innovation Challenge?
The EUTOPIA Innovation Challenge is a unique opportunity to gain international practical experience! Together with students from all over Europe, you will attend lectures and interactive seminars with researchers from EUTOPIA partner universities and engage in discussions with practitioners and stakeholders.
The challenge takes place twice a year at one of the EUTOPIA partner universities - in November 2025 you will be in Brussels!

Who can apply?
Are you studying at TU Dresden and enrolled in the summer semester 2025? Perfect - then you can apply. Students with a background in linguistics or literature will be given preference in the selection process. However, anyone who is interested in the topic and would like to apply is welcome. At the TUD, up to eight students will be selected.
What are the costs?
Travel, accommodation and food costs will be reimbursed by TU Dresden afterwards. You must submit a travel expense report for this. Participation in the challenge itself is free of charge. Up to 8 TUD students can participate.
