AG Collection Preservation
In 2017, the members of the Gesellschaft für Universitätssammlungen founded the AG Sammlungserhalt at their meeting at TU Dresden under the leadership of Kirsten Vincenz.
Their goals
University collections must constantly reassert themselves between structural and content-related changes and in the struggle for resources. Consequently, this results in areas of activity for Curators, Collection Officers and Central Offices for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections that go beyond the scientific care of the collection and affect very different areas of university self-administration.
The Society for University Collections would like to support those responsible for collections and Offices for Academic Heritage, Scientific and Art Collections in their day-to-day work within the university. The working group will initially identify problem areas and compile practical examples from the collections. In addition, experts will be recruited for presentations who are available to answer specific questions from the collections. In addition to the exchange of information, however, the aim should also be to build up an extended network for the collections that provides access to specialist expertise outside the university itself.
