Interactive Science Lab at CIDS
Since 2023, the Kustodie has been a partner in the CIDS (Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences) network. The CIDS is a focal point with interfaces across all subject areas in all fields. In collaboration with the CIDS, TU Dresden is addressing the cross-disciplinary processing of scientific issues in the areas of digitalisation, high-performance computing, data, modelling and simulation, artificial intelligence, knowledge extraction and transfer, and numerous other digitalisation topics. This is achieved by integrating seven departments and associated topic clusters into a centre for digital sciences with a workforce of over 500 employees.
The Kustodie is directly involved in the Interactive Science Lab (ISL), an interdisciplinary team at CIDS that has developed an interactive pilot exhibition '//DataSpaces. Experience Science' in the foyer of the Faculty of Computer Science (Andreas-Pfitzmann-Bau). This exhibition combines prototypes and demonstrators of current research from the Center for Interdisciplinary Digital Sciences (CIDS) with historical objects from the university collections. The ISL is distinguished by its interactive and dialogue-oriented approach, which activates and action-oriented applications and modules.
- Modular: Continuous adaptation to current research
- Individual: use of different levels of information
- Participatory: from visitor to user to designer
The multimodal-immersive nature of the exhibition is evident in its appeal to all the senses through the use of a wide range of media and modern technologies, ensuring a high-quality experience.
The pilot exhibition is currently underway, with the ISL team evaluating the efficacy of the concept and the mediation ideas. An additional stage, featuring a smaller and partly newly composed version of the exhibition, is currently on display in the SLUB Makerspace, with the intention of enriching the newly emerging Lehmann Centre.
