CRC / TRR 205 - The Adrenal: Central Relay in Health and Disease
The Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio (CRC/TRR) 205 investigates and treats adrenal diseases that can cause acute and chronic disorders due to dysregulation. This interdisciplinary research network brings together leading experts and six institutes in Dresden, Munich and Würzburg, who are working together on basic research as well as translational and clinical research. The aim is to define the central role of the adrenal gland in metabolic and inflammatory diseases and to develop innovative therapeutic strategies.
The Adrenal: Central Relay in Health and Disease
The Collaborative Research Centre/Transregio (CRC/TRR) 205 is investigating and treating adrenal diseases that can cause acute and chronic disorders due to dysregulation. This research network, which brings together leading adrenal gland experts, promotes interdisciplinary cooperation in the areas of neuronal, immunological and endocrine regulation. Six institutions in Dresden, Munich and Würzburg are working together on basic, translational and clinical research. Research area A investigates the underlying pathophysiology of adrenal diseases, while research area B focuses on the pathogenesis, diagnosis and evaluation of new therapies for clinically relevant adrenal tumours. The aim is to clearly define the central role of the adrenal stress system in metabolic and inflammatory diseases.
The CRC/TRR 205 comprises 18 scientific research projects and four service projects, which are led by 47 project leaders. A total of six independent research institutions are involved in this Collaborative Research Center/ TransRegio.
