BioBank Dresden BBD
Welcome to the BioBank Dresden.
BioBank Dresden consists of the sub-biobanks for tissue (Tumor and Normal Tissue Bank | Institute of Pathology) and liquid biosamples (Dresden Integrated Liquid Biobank | Institute of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine). Together we offer physicians and researchers numerous services related to biobanking. We are constantly developing in close cooperation with the German Biobank Alliance. Get to know us.

Within the BBD, biospecimen from patients are processed and stored in a quality-assured and data protection-compliant manner. For this purpose, tissue and liquid samples are obtained by doctors in the context of routine diagnostics and therapy from operations, biopsies, punctures, blood or urine samples. The prerequisite for storage in the BBD is always the informed and written consent of the patient. The aim and core tasks of the BBD are to provide scientists with a comprehensive collection of tissue and liquid samples as well as associated data. This is an important basis for research at the Dresden site and in cross-site collaborations. In order to achieve these goals, the University Hospital Dresden, the Faculty of Medicine at TU Dresden and the German Cancer Research Center have jointly established the BBD.
