Habilitation funding for women
"Have the courage! Even if a shoe seems half a size too big at first, put it on, it will soon fit. Six years ago, I would never have thought that I would be running a clinic now." Prof. Dr. med. Dr. Esther Troost, Dean of the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine.
It is a central concern of the Faculty of Medicine to support the academic goals of its female scientists and thus sustainably increase the proportion of women in leadership positions in academic medicine. The habilitation support for women is intended to provide female scientists and researching female doctors with one year of freedom to enable them to fulfill the necessary requirements for opening the habilitation procedure. This includes active participation in teaching and in-depth didactic training. Mentoring, networking opportunities and the possibility of individual coaching are also part of the program. The Faculty of Medicine provides three full-time positions per year for this purpose. The personalized, situation-specific funding (max. 1 FTE) can be applied for according to the individual needs of the applicants.
An information event on habilitations, including habilitation funding for women, will take place in May 2025. The program spokespersons and the Chair of the Habilitation Commission will present the program and you will have the opportunity to exchange ideas with alumni of the funding line.
The public recruitment symposium will take place on 14.08.2025. All interested parties are welcome to attend.
