PARTICIPATION INFORMATION FOR EMPLOYEES
Thank you for your interest in our study!
This study first takes stock of the health situation of employees at the TU Dresden. Tailor-made prevention and health promotion measures are planed based on the findings of the study.
The objective of the study is the long-term support and establishment of workplace-related and individualized measures for prevention and health promotion at the TU Dresden. These measures should be based on your needs as a university employee. The aim is to improve the health situation of university employees.
Your current health status and your opinion on existing offers at the TU Dresden or on gaps in the offer are of fundamental importance to us in order to be able to guarantee a tailor-made development of prevention offers.
All employees of TU Dresden (with the exception of the Faculty of Medicine) will be asked by e-mail to participate in an online survey as part of the study.
We already asked you about your state of health and the requirements at your work in the context of the project TUDo! at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic (in 2020). We are very grateful for your numerous participation. We have already been able to gain a comprehensive impression of where you see particular requirements for your health through this initial stocktaking. We will be happy to inform you about the results of the survey when it will be made available to all employees in the coming weeks.
The objective of the follow-up survey is to be able to assess whether - and if so, how - the health of employees at TU Dresden has changed compared to the first survey. Within the framework of the survey, information on the current state of health, on work-related stresses and strains, and on the prevention and counselling services offered by TU Dresden will be addressed. In addition, we are also interested in possible late effects due to a possible infection with the coronavirus. In this context, we work closely with the University Health Management of the TU Dresden. A regular look at the state of health and the existing needs of TUD employees for university counselling and prevention services is important in order to be able to adapt and expand the services accordingly.
Prevention measures are derived and developed after evaluating the data collected as part of the first survey module. The results of the first inventory can be viewed here in the Health Report 2021.
The follow-up survey was conducted from January 21 to March 3, 2023. The collected data is currently being processed and analyzed. You will be informed promptly about the first results.
You are making an important contribution to identifying the stresses and strains on employees in the university sector and to identifying necessary preventive and health promotion measures with your participation in our study. The results contribute to the development of workplace-related and individualized prevention offers. Overall, your participation in the study will help strengthen and improve your health and the health of other university employees.
There are no risks associated with participating in the study and you will not incur any costs.
Participation in this project is voluntary. You can stop participating in this project at any time and without giving reasons, without suffering any disadvantages. The data collected as part of this study will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be evaluated for scientific purposes. All project employees are subject to confidentiality.
At no time will your employer receive any information as to whether or not you took part in the study. Of course, your employer also has no access to your details.
Data is collected using an online-based questionnaire. At the beginning of the survey you will be asked to enter a personal code. This code is called a "one-way key" and is made up of information known only to you. It is used to pseudonymise the collected data: this means that the data record contains neither your name nor any other information that would enable your identity to be determined. Nevertheless, with the personal code known only to you ("disposable key"), it is possible to merge the data from different survey times (e.g. initial survey and follow-up survey); because at each time of the survey you will be asked again to enter this personal code, which is only known to you.
The research data is stored with the disposable key in the Polyclinic for Occupational and Social Medicine (collection agency).

The one-way keys used by employees at the collection point are replaced by a random number (so-called "over-encryption") to further increase data protection. The assignment list, which only contains the disposable keys and the assigned random numbers, is stored separately from the survey data in the survey office (polyclinic for occupational and social medicine). The employees of the evaluation office do not have access to this data. All analyzes are carried out exclusively with the data provided with the random number (“over-encrypted”). The Institute for Occupational and Social Medicine (evaluation office) is responsible for data evaluation and processing in the project.

All data collected as part of the study will be used exclusively for scientific purposes and will not be passed on to third parties. After completing the data collection and evaluation, the data will be used – completely anonymously – within scientific publications. Your personal data will be stored for 10 years in accordance with "Good Epidemiological Practice" and then destroyed. The data is secured against unauthorized access. All members of the study team are bound to secrecy. The provisions of the Data Protection Act in the current version are observed.
The survey was finished in March 2023. It is no longer possible to participate at the study.
