Three young PLID scientists among this year's winners of the DZD Awards 2021
Each year, the German Center for Diabetes Research (DZD) presents a DZD Award to ten young researchers. The internal award honors scientific results from basic or clinical research presented in the form of a poster or a lecture at a diabetes conference.
This year, among others, three PhD students of the Paul Langerhans Institute are happy about their prizes.
Obadah Bahra, from the group of Prof. Ünal Coskun, receives the award for his presentation "The role of membrane lipid composition and physicochemical properties in regulating Akt1 activity", which he gave at the Annual meeting for Molecular Architecture and Cellular Functions of Lipid/Protein Assemblies (TRR 83).
Prateek Chawla conducts research at PLID in the group of Prof. Nikolay Ninov and receives the DZD Award for his talk "A single-cell atlas of de novo beta cell regeneration in adult zebrafish identifies hybrid cell states that facilitate diabetes reversal" which he gave at the Virtual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in September 2021.
Esteban Quezada is a researcher in the group of Prof. Michele Solimena and receives the DZD Award for his presentation " Cell biology of stress granules in pancreatic beta cells” that he gave at the Virtual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) in September 2021.
The DZD Award winners for 2021 were announced during the DZD workshop in Munich on May 3rd, 2022. Below you will find the links to the corresponding short presentations in video format:
