Five running enthusiasts from PLID join Charity Run “FORTschritt gegen Krebs” in support of cancer research
In a strong show of solidarity, five members of the PLID teamed up and participated in the charity run "FORTschritt gegen Krebs", organized by the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) and University Cancer Center (UCC) Dresden, Sonnenstrahl ev, Schlösserland Sachsen and Stiftung Hochschulmedizin. The event, held on September 3, 2024, in Dresden’s´ Großer Garten brought together individuals and organizations committed to supporting cancer research and raising awareness about the fight against cancer.
The run, which was limited to one thousand participants, attracted runners from across the region, aimed to raise funds for crucial cancer research initiatives, furthering the progress in diagnostics, treatment, and patient care. Our PLID team contributed both financially and physically, completing 50km alongside a diverse group of supporters, including cancer survivors, researchers, healthcare professionals, and members of the local community.
Our teammates, inspired by the cause, emphasized the importance of ongoing research and awareness. "Although 32°C might not be the ideal temperature for sportive events, it was important to participate in this meaningful event. We believe in the mission of the NCT and UCC and are happy to contribute to the fight against cancer," said one participant.
The funds raised from FORTschritt gegen Krebs will go directly towards advancing cancer research and patient support programs at the NCT/UCC Dresden. The event was yet another testament to the power of community in tackling one of the most pressing health challenges of our time.
