PLID group leader receives “UHU Grant-in-Aid” Award
Prof. Andreas Birkenfeld, group leader at PLID, succeeded in a highly competitive application process and was now awarded with one of the two UHU Grant-in-Aid awards that were available in 2017. He receives the funding for the project “Mechanistic insight into the role of SCL16A11 in the development of insulin resistance and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease” together with his co-investigator Dr. Leon Adams from the University of Western Australia.
The University of Western Australia, Helmholtz Zentrum Munich and University College London (UHU) established a collaboration between the three institutions to support academic and cultural exchange in teaching, research and other activities. For the first time this collaboration offered two Grants-in-Aid awards which supports joint, collaborative research projects between the institutions in the area of tissue repair and regeneration.
