Stefan Kaskel
is the new Dean of the Faculty Chemistry and Food Chemistry.
Stefan Kaskel is Full Professor since 2004 at TU Dresden (Inorganic Chemistry I). He was multiple times recognized as Highly Cited Researcher including 2021. As member of the Beirat Batterieforschung Deutschland he is an advisor for the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). He coordinates the BMBF-funded Dresden Excellent-Battery Center (KaSiLi), a consortium of Dresden-concept partners and he is involved (part-time) since 2008 in applied research at the Fraunhofer Institute Materials and Beam technology (IWS). With more than 600 publications (h-index 110, google scholar) he ranks among the leading materials scientists in the field of advanced functional materials in Dresden. In 2017 he was awarded an ERC Advanced Grant, 2019 he was appointed as member of the European Academy of Science, Distinguished Visiting Professor at Tsinghua University, and 2021 Adjunct Professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University, China. 74 PhD students successfully defended the thesis under S. Kaskels supervision. The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation designated him 2021 as a Henriette Herz Scout, a program significantly advancing the internationalization of TU Dresden by integrating and educating excellent young talents from all over the world as future leading academics.
