Kid's Lab
A day in a real laboratory - that is what our children's laboratory offers. During two weeks each at the winter and summer vacations, the Chair of Food Chemistry clears a laboratory for elementary school children and organizes one-day practical courses (there are currently no changing course offerings) with a whole series of experiments. Of course, the children work (almost) like the grown-ups: with lab coats, safety goggles and laboratory equipment suitable for children. A maximum of 12 children can participate per day. The children will be supervised by a student in groups of 2. We start at 10:00 am and the experiments end around 2:00 pm. A snack for lunch and drinks will be provided for the children. All inclusive, at our expense.
Our goal is to make research and discovery fun for the children. In addition, it is our concern to show scientific work. Therefore, in addition to experimenting and observing, our program also includes explaining and documenting.
Preparations for the children's lab in February 2025 began in mid-November. For the upcoming session, we are currently planning to allocate places via childcare facilities (i.e. after-school care centers) at Dresden elementary school. Therefore, there are currently no places available for individual registrations.
