Our research interest is the understanding and optimization of (photo)-electrocatalytic energy conversion reactions. To identify universal principles in the activation of oxygen, hydrogen or carbon dioxide, we investigate enzymatic, molecular and material-based systems. In our research approach, we combine electrochemical techniques with vibrational spectroscopy, which provides functional, structural and often complementary information about the system of interest.
Another research interest is to further develop electrode systems for surface-enhanced Raman and IR spectroelectrochemistry. Here we are working on new materials and morphologies as well as the influence of light amplification on photocatalysis.
