Organic Sensors and Solar Cells (OSens)
Sensors are key elements of future smart electronics, having broad applications in healthcare, food, agriculture and many more. Nowadays, humans are able to interact with technology due to versatile smart devices, all of which rely on different kinds of signal detection. Organic sensors are lightweight and can be fabricated in a flexible and even stretchable fashion, can be much cheaper and easier to produce as compared to inorganic semiconductors. They are promising candidates for versatile detection principles, paving the way for novel applications [C. Fuentes-Hernandez et al. Science 370 (2020)]. However, the working principles of organic sensors are often little understood and offer fascinating physics.
In the OSens group, physicists, physicists, material scientists and engineers are working closely together on a broad range of topics from device physics, device engineering, material development to fundamental photo-physics of organic semiconductors.
