Study at the Chair for Neutron Spectroscopy of Condensed Matter

Join our team to participate in the cutting-edge neutron research and become part of an international community of scientists pursuing multiple exciting research projects in solid-state physics and material science. We are regularly seeking qualified candidates at the diploma, doctoral and postdoctoral level. The highlight of the work in our group is the possibility to travel and perform experiments worldwide at large-scale neutron facilities in Europe and overseas. Our group also benefits from a dense network of collaborations within Dresden, in the whole of Germany, and all over the world.

PhD position in neutron diffraction

In 2019, we will have a vacant PhD position for neutron diffraction on frustrated magnetic materials at TU Dresden. The project is related to crystallography and magnetic structure refinement. A successful candidate should have a Master's degree in physics or chemistry (or equivalent) and a solid knowledge in the fields of solid-state physics, crystallography, magnetism, and group theory. Hands-on experience with Rietveld refinement of crystalline or magnetic structures (e.g. during a master thesis project), as well as knowledge of FullProf Suite or JANA (or similar software) is a strong plus. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
