In this project angle-resolved photoemission and electron-energy-loss spectroscopy will be used to study the electronic structure of magnetic compounds harboring frustration, quantum spin liquids or topological nontrivial phases. By comparing the data with theoretical predictions, the importance of spin-orbit coupling for the electronic structure and the magnetic interactions will be investigated. We will search for consequences of frustrated spin interactions in the electronic band structure and will identify Dirac cones and Weyl fermions in chiral magnetic systems.
