“Start, keep going, finish!”

- Suitable workplace
- Daily structure
- Writing community in the rooms of the Writing Center (SZD) or online.
Who can participate? The target group
All students of TU Dresden can participate in presence or hybrid.
Your goal is to ...
- progress your work effectively?
- write in a room with others because it motivates you?
- structure your writing time in such a way that you create a productive balance between breaks and working time?
- exchange ideas with students who are also currently writing?
- further develop your writing skills?
Does something apply to you? Then the next writing marathon is the right place for you! Still unsure? We've explained the concept in slightly different words in this video:

How do you get to the start line? The registration
Click here to enrol via OPAL: https://tud.link/a4jc2d. There you will receive news about the course and can ask questions in the forum if anything is unclear.
If you are present at least 75% of the time, whether in attendance or online, we will issue you with a certificate of attendance.
What motivates you to keep running? The writing community
Under the motto “Start, keep going, finish!” we move through the week together. Just arriving together, unpacking your writing utensils and getting started can create a sense of community, no matter where you are in the writing process.
We will provide you with drinks and snacks for the physical dry spells. For mental dry spells, we offer you the opportunity to get advice on your writing project from a writing tutor on site or to regenerate yourself by taking exercise breaks.
Important here:
- Everything can, nothing must! Keep an eye on your own endurance.
- You may find that other “runners” have similar stamina. Then you can alternate between writing and break times together.
- There is enough space in the room so that you have the choice of writing alone in a quiet corner or in the company of others.
- The quiet atmosphere in the writing room should not be disturbed during break times either. We move to a separate room for consultations or group input.
- You have only run a marathon when you have experienced it from the start to the finish line. We would like you to be there for the whole week if possible, as your fellow runners will also benefit from your presence.
What stages await you? The daily structure
The starting line at the beginning of the week is a short introductory session and the setting of individual goals. We, the writing tutor team, provide a general daily schedule with individual stages.
Ultimately, however, you decide at what pace you want to take part. The frequency and length of the stages will be based on the needs of the group. Your individual writing time is always in the foreground.
For example: the greeting and writing introduction will not always take up the first 30 minutes. If you want to start writing straight away on the second day, you can!
