University groups
Once again this year, there will be a university group Meet & Greet in the inner courtyard of the Fritz Förster Building (probably). You will have the opportunity to get to know the various TU Dresden university groups without any obligation. We already have more than a dozen confirmations and the number is steadily increasing! The representatives of the participating university groups will answer your questions and maybe you will be motivated to get involved in a university group.
You don't know where you want to go yet? We will soon provide you with a MatchMaker that will make an initial suggestion based on your interests so that you can find out in a targeted manner!
PARTICIPATING UNIVERSITY GROUPS 2026
404 Multigaming e.V. has been an officially recognized university group at TU Dresden since 2019. Thanks to the legitimization of the Student Council, we were able to expand our structures on campus in a targeted manner and establish a strong community for gaming and eSports.
Today, we network around 200 active members and continue to grow. Our goal is to establish our teams in the upper divisions of the university league in the medium term and to strengthen Dresden as an eSports location in the long term.
In addition to the competitive area, we offer a lively community with its own platforms on Discord, WhatsApp and Facebook as well as regular events for students in Dresden.
For more than ten years, students from various departments have been campaigning for human rights worldwide in the Amnesty University Group.
We organize information stands, workshops, lectures, theater performances and exhibitions and provide information about the situation of people in different countries. At the same time, we motivate and show ways to become active for human rights. We welcome everyone who wants to stand up for human rights here and worldwide and who stands for respectful and tolerant interaction with one another - whether they are students or not.
We currently have around 10 active members, but we are always happy to welcome new faces!
We meet every two weeks for a large group meeting, usually on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm, where we discuss important actions and dates, among other things. At the same time, various subgroups work on specific topics, for example on the issues of flight or women's rights.
If you are interested in joining us, please contact us by email() or instagram (@amnesty_hsg_dd)."
Baghira sees itself as a support group for the Balu und Du mentoring program in Dresden. This is a program that promotes pairs of young adults and primary school children who spend time together and give each other attention. Both sides benefit in different ways. We are working to strengthen the positive effects of the program and to ensure its further development and continuation at the location and in cooperation with TU Dresden. We meet in plenary sessions every four to six weeks to coordinate our work. This involves planning and supporting events with the mentoring teams, coordinating the recruitment of new volunteers and further developing the program. Our aim is to utilize and promote the diverse skills of the supporters and the socio-educational expertise of the coordinators.

We, the bonding-studierendeninitiative e.V. (Dresden university group), organize free events for students to give them an insight into the world of work during their studies. Our events offer special insights into professional life and give students the chance to get to know interesting employers. With a broad portfolio, we also offer interdisciplinary further education opportunities. Through practical work, our volunteer members learn important skills and soft skills during their studies. If you would also like to become part of our team and help implement small and large projects, please come along to our weekly plenary session (Wednesdays 7 pm) or write to us at .
Mit Sicherheit Verliebt is a near-peer sex education project for schools (grades 6 to 10). Based on the latest findings from medical research, we aim to help young people develop a healthy, thoughtful and self-determined relationship with their own sexuality.
In small groups, we visit school classes for project days, where we discuss sexuality, puberty and the development of a healthy body image in an age-appropriate manner. Other important topics are consent, contraception and the menstrual cycle. We talk about queerness, gender stereotypes and healthy relationships. It’s important for us to not just replace biology classes, but to offer a concept that is more authentic and takes place on equal footing.
We’re always looking for motivated people who want to join us on our mission to empower and educate young people about sexuality and love. If you’d like to join us, feel free to stop by at one of our meetings that happen bi-weekly (usually und Mondays at 7 p.m.) in one of the buildings at Uniklinikum Dresden. You don’t have to be a medical student - every degree is welcome!

Many of us want to make the world a better place. But our time and resources are limited - so how can we make the best use of them? To find out, there is Effective Altruism (effektiveraltruismus.de).
For example, we look at questions such as:
What career path can I use to do the most good?
How can we fight poverty and disease?
How can we prevent the next pandemic?
What risks does the development of artificial intelligence entail and how can we counter them?
How can we improve living conditions for animals and abolish factory farming in the long term?
We are setting up a new university group to discuss these and many other topics. Depending on the interest of new members, we are planning weekly open discussion groups or a reading group based around the book "80,000 Hours: How to Have a Fulfilling Career That Does Good", in which we can think together about our future career paths. But we also want to motivate and support each other in our altruistic projects in the here and now.
If you are interested, please send an e-mail to . We look forward to hearing from you!

The Juso-Hochschulgruppe Dresden is an association of all TU Dresden students who are Juso members or who identify with democratic socialism as a social goal. Our goals are political education in the form of events and workshops, the articulation of political demands, especially in the area of university politics, and to be a socializing platform for members and interested parties.
The KSG Dresden (Catholic Student Community) is an open community for students and young adults who want to deal with questions about faith, society and their own lives - regardless of denomination or previous experience.
We meet regularly for discussion evenings, church services, lectures and joint activities. It's not just about content, but also about talking to each other and having a good time - whether it's eating together, going on excursions or simply enjoying everyday life.
Our meetings take place during the week, supplemented by special events. New faces are always welcome - feel free to drop by!

Nightline Dresden is a telephone helpline by students for students during the night. Whether it's exam nerves, doubts about your choice of subject, stress in a shared flat, homesickness or lovesickness - the list of student worries is long and we are here to help you with problems like these. Even if you just want to talk, we have an open ear for you. We don't judge or condemn, and we don't tell you what to do. We will listen to you and perhaps find a way together with you. The following applies in particular: all calls are treated confidentially, no one needs to give their name.
At the other end of the line, you will meet students from various departments and faculties who volunteer with us and listen to you. All members have undergone several days of training in the basics of counseling and are regularly supervised by a psychologist.
What waste garbage cans are there in Dresden, what goes where and what other disposal options are there? At the stand of the Office for Urban Greenery and Waste Management, everyone can test their knowledge with the waste separation game and the question wheel. After all, waste can only be recycled if it ends up in the right garbage can. And that is the best thing for our environment. The waste advice team also gives tips on how to avoid waste. In this way, sustainable use of resources is also possible in everyday life.

We are the Dresden branch of the Socialist-Democratic Student Association. We are a diverse group of students from many departments who are committed to better study conditions, against social cuts, for equal rights, against militarization, war and environmental destruction and for positive visions of the future. We are anti-capitalist, anti-fascist and feminist.
We see these struggles as part of a comprehensive social debate against the radical market and anti-democratic restructuring of society. With educational events, panel discussions, film evenings, demonstrations and much more, we campaign for issues that are important. We meet weekly to plan new events and ideas, discuss politics or simply exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. The SMD is a Germany-wide, interdenominational network of Christians in schools, universities and professions - and we as the Dresden University SMD are part of it. As student Christians, we want to bring our faith into conversation in the context of the university. For us, thinking, believing and experiencing belong together. No matter what your beliefs are, whether you are a Christian or simply curious: you are very welcome.
During the semester, we invite you to themed evenings every two weeks on Tuesdays. You can expect a good mix of exciting impulses, open exchange and fellowship. We also organize lecture hall talks, coffee stands and many other activities.
Come along, we look forward to seeing you!

STAV is an association by students for students. We are one of the main points of contact when it comes to student jobs, especially for regional workplaces. And of course also for students on the Dresden campus. We take on a mediating role, but at the same time we also want to be a helping hand. That's why our office is located right in the heart of the campus, near the Alte Mensa, opposite the Fritz Foerster building in MOM5.
The Student Medical Service is a recognized university group at TU Dresden. Our members are students, doctoral candidates and employees of our university. We do not take sides and reject political cooperation due to our self-image as a neutral aid provider. Our university group is open to all associate members of TU Dresden.
The focus of our work is the education of our members and the dissemination of knowledge about life-saving measures. We are committed to ensuring that basic knowledge about first aid is available to everyone. To this end, we prepare the most important topics in a clear way and present them in the form of seminars, which are offered free of charge to TU Dresden employees and student groups.
Our areas of responsibility include providing medical cover for TUD events, seminars for TUD students and staff and training our members in first aid.
Further information and important news can be found on our website www.unisan-dresden.de and on our Instagram account @unisan_tud.
We are happy to answer questions by email at or directly on Instagram.

Since the winter semester 2021, the student team of "SustainAbility: Understanding and Implementing Sustainability" has been organizing a series of events on the basics of sustainability, especially the climate crisis. The lecture series takes a holistic look at the topic from different perspectives and discusses ways to make your own life as sustainable as possible.
The events are offered to students of all semesters, TUD employees, high school students, senior citizens and all other interested people outside the TUD. The events are also suitable for newcomers to the topic, as the content does not require any prior knowledge and is presented in an understandable way. This distinguishes the lecture series from the tuuwi's more in-depth environmental lecture series. The recordings of all lectures held so far can be found on the Videocampus Sachsen.

Thea Maass Folklore Dance Ensemble at TU Dresden has been one of the most powerful and artistically distinguished amateur dance groups in Germany since 1950.
Under the direction of dance teacher and choreographer Maud Butter, around 40 dancers and musicians are currently dedicated to the cultivation and interpretation of German dance folklore and the dance interpretation of traditional customs from various German regions in sophisticated stage choreographies.
The ensemble, which consists mainly of students and graduates of TU Dresden, has the opportunity to do this not only at regional and national performances, but also at numerous folklore festivals and dance competitions abroad as a member of the International Council for the Organization of Folklore Festivals and Folk Art(CIOFF).
Through contact with folklore groups and people from all over the world, the ensemble not only receives new impulses in its artistic work, but also contributes to a lively exchange between cultures through its versatility.
In the TU Environmental Initiative (tuuwi), TU Dresden (TUD) students from all departments and semesters have been committed to environmental protection and climate justice for over 30 years - and not just on campus.
A particular focus is on student-managed environmental education: The usual lecture series formats are supplemented or supported by alternative teaching formats such as panel discussions, project days, workshops and excursions. For the majority of degree programs, participation in the courses can be credited with ECTS and the additional certificate studium oecologicum can be obtained.
Even though we operate on campus, everyone is welcome to join us and our courses! You can always find current and further information on our educational offers here: https://tuuwi.de/vorlesungenseminare/
What else do we do?
The tuuwi also works in various working groups to cover the diverse interests of its members. For example, every semester we offer various environmental film evenings (incl. supporting program) in the student cinema "Kino im Kasten". There is also a book cell on campus in front of the HSZ and the Siedepunkt canteen, where books are diligently exchanged. Our self-organized places of exchange and retreat have also found their place on campus: The "living room" in the StuRa barracks or our tuuwi community garden behind the barracks with self-harvesting beds.
But we are also committed to a climate-friendly and sustainable university behind the scenes. We are in close contact with various stakeholders at the TUD and ask uncomfortable questions here and there or remind the TUD of the urgency of the climate crisis. For example, at the end of 2019, we published an open letter to the Studentenwerk for the sustainable conversion of the canteen offer. To this end, we are constantly working with the TUD's Environmental Commission and Environmental Protection Group and have also initiated a revision of the university's structures with regard to environmental and climate protection responsibility. Following the HSZ occupation in 2019, we also launched a climate policy catalog of demands (with @change_tud) with further high-profile campaigns (#überflutung2020 and the podcast "die Fragewelle").
You can always find all information and many other tuuwi campaigns at https://tuuwi.de/ or on our social media channels (@tuuwi_dresden).

We encourage pupils from families with no previous university experience to be the first in their family to study. 6,000 volunteers are involved in 80 local ArbeiterKind.de groups across Germany to inform pupils about the possibility of studying and to support them on their journey from starting university to successfully completing their studies and starting a career. Most of our volunteers are students or first-generation academics themselves and talk from their own experience about their educational advancement and provide encouragement as personal role models.
