Past Scholarship Celebrations
On 7 December 2022, we again opened the new funding year 2022/2023 of the Deutschlandstipendium at TU Dresden with a virtual scholarship celebration. The 324 scholarship holders as well as over 100 sponsors and members of the TU Dresden selection committees were invited.
Despite the virtuality, a lively and unifying program was put together. The event was opened by the Prorector for Education, Prof. Dr. Michael Kobel, who first thanked all sponsors who contribute to the large number of scholarships with their support.
The scholarship holders also took the opportunity to express their thanks to their sponsors by sending us short video messages in advance. A thank-you video was edited from these statements and presented for the first time at the scholarship celebration.
A highlight of this year was the Matching Challenge and fundraising campaign for Ukrainian students. With the help of numerous donors, 30 more scholarships were awarded. Two of the scholarship holders, the siblings Vira and Anastasiia, talked about their experiences in the Ukraine and their studies at the TU Dresden in an interview.
In the second part of the event, despite the distance between all participants, a chocolate tasting was held. Chocolate boxes were sent to all parts of the world beforehand, which could then be tasted under the guidance of chocolate sommelier Andrea Mast from Kakao Pur.
Following the festive programme, the get-together of sponsors and "their" scholarship holders took place in their own conference rooms via BigBlueButton to get to know each other, exchange ideas and network.
We would like to thank you for coming and for the successful evening with many new encounters and a lively exchange!
Review of the virtual scholarship celebration on December 07, 2021
On December 07, 2021, the Deutschlandstipendium opened the funding year 2021/2022 at the TU Dresden again with a virtual scholarship celebration due to contact restrictions by Corona. Around 330 scholarship holders and sponsors followed the celebration online and met afterwards in virtual session rooms. Thanks to the support of 87 sponsors of full scholarships (companies, foundations, associations, private individuals) as well as many participants in fundraising events, the Deutschlandstipendium could be awarded to 292 scholarship holders at TU Dresden in the academic year 2021/22.
The moderator team, consisting of Franziska Plathner and Matthias Spaniel, opened the ceremony. They were supported by the wonderful jazz trio Victor Möhmel, Timur Valitov and Kateryna Kravchenko - themselves also current and former Deutschlandstipendiat:innen of the Dresden University of Music. By means of a small survey, the audience revealed, among other things, that despite the purely digital execution of the event, almost every third had dressed festively for the scholarship celebration. Afterwards, the rector of the TU Dresden, Prof. Dr. Ursula Staudinge, told in an interview how she financed her psychology studies at that time and what she wishes for the Deutschlandstipendium in the next 10 years. Another highlight of the supporting program was the interview and virtual certificate presentation with the scholarship holders of the fundraising campaign GEMEINSAM+10 and Stips4Stips DSTIP-Challenge. They not only gave an insight into their lives as students of the TU Dresden but also into their living rooms.
The event concluded with a "get together" in more than 40 virtual session rooms. The scholarship holders and sponsors were able to get to know each other on camera and talk about the support provided by the Deutschlandstipendium, career prospects and working from home.
After the official ceremony, the AG Stammtisch invited everyone to a virtual after-show party and an informal exchange of ideas. Until late in the evening, people celebrated, played and listened to music together.
On November 24, 2020, the Deutschlandstipendium opened the scholarship year 2020/2021 at the TU Dresden in a completely new way: with a virtual scholarship celebration. Due to the corona situation, the celebration program and the "Get together" took place on a virtual event platform. 240 scholarship holders and sponsors followed the celebration online and then met in virtual session rooms. Thanks to the support of 75 sponsors (companies, foundations, associations, private individuals), the Deutschlandstipendium for the academic year 2020/21 was awarded to 250 scholarship holders of the TU Dresden.
After the welcome by the moderator team, the celebration opened with a video greeting from the new rector Prof. Dr. Ursula Staudinger. In the connection the moderator Matthias Spaniel presented the new sponsors of the scholarship year 2020/21 with his photo story "the morning after...". The highlight of the program was the interview and the virtual handing over of certificates with the two scholarship holders Andrea Atanasova and Martin Ahlfeld. They not only gave an insight into their lives as students of the TU Dresden but also into their living rooms.
The event concluded with a "Get together" in over 40 virtual session rooms. The scholarship holders and supporters were able to get to know each other camera to camera and exchange information about the support provided by the Deutschlandstipendium, professional perspectives and working at home.
In addition to the program, a virtual exhibition with presentations by sponsors and working groups of the scholarship holders could be visited.
After the official celebration, the virtual after-show party invited the scholarship holders to a casual exchange. With soft lounge music the moderator Matthias Spaniel opened three thematically different virtual rooms: City & Country, Science³ and Scholarship inside. Until late in the evening, there was partying, playing and listening to music together.
On 26 November 2019, the Deutschlandstipendium opened the funding year 2019/2020 at the TU Dresden with its annual scholarship celebration. Some 300 scholarship holders and sponsors of the programme were guests. In the current academic year, the scholarship programme was awarded to 253 TU Dresden scholarship holders thanks to the support of over 81 sponsors (companies, foundations, associations, private individuals).
In addition to the welcoming address by the Vice Rector for Education and International Affairs and the honouring of the sponsors and scholarship holders, the young musician duo around Kateryna Kravchenko and Frank Schlüter - both (former) students of the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden - provided a diverse supporting programme. The talented jazz vocalist Kravchenko comes from the Ukraine and is herself one of five scholarship holders at the Dresden University of Music. Guitarist Frank Schlüter, on the other hand, not only impressed with his acoustic guitar skills, but also with a surprising beatbox interlude of Prince's song "Kiss".
The event concluded with a Get together of the scholarship holders and their respective sponsors in the columned hall of the old refectory. In a relaxed atmosphere, there was an active exchange about professional perspectives and possibilities for non-material support. In addition to financial support, networking with potential employers is an essential aspect of the programme.
Sponsors and scholarship holders meet at the annual scholarship celebration to exchange ideas, get to know each other or meet again. The scholarship celebration 2018 heralded the eighth year of the Deutschlandstipendium at the TU Dresden. Nearly 300 guests attended the ceremony in the Dülfersaal.
All guests were welcomed by the rector, Prof. dr. Hans Müller-Steinhagen. As part of the program, the new sponsors of the 2018/19 scholarship year were welcomed, the long-time supporters were honored and, of course, the certificates were handed over to the scholarship holders. Artistically, the audience was indulged by the guitarist, and scholarship holder, Julia Lange and inspired by the poetry slammer Rainer Holl for reflection and laughter.
At the subsequent get-together in the column hall of the Alte Mensa, supporters and scholarship holders got to know each other and had their pictures taken.
In December 2017, around 280 scholarship holders and sponsors came together for the festive launch of the seventh scholarship year at TU Dresden.
The duo enVivo accompanied the ceremony with vocals and guitar. Alexandra Kayser was born in the Philippines and sang short stories in English and Spanish, which gave the evening a touching and varied character.
The Prorector Prof. Dr. Hans Georg Krauthäuser then congratulated the 227 award-winning students on their successful application and encouraged them to carry the idea of the Deutschlandstipendium further into society. In return, Mr. Marcel Ullman, scholarship holder of Signon Deutschland GmbH, expressed a word of thanks on behalf of all scholarship holders. Another highlight was the honouring of the sponsors, who have been loyal to the Deutschlandstipendium at the TU Dresden for five years now, and the welcoming of the 14 new sponsors.
At the concluding "Get together", there was an intensive exchange in a relaxed atmosphere about professional perspectives and possibilities for non-material support. In front of a TU Dresden photo wall, sponsors could be captured together with their scholarship holders.
On 6.12.2016 about 300 scholarship holders and sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium came together for the scholarship celebration in the Dülfersaal of the TUTU Dresden.
The five-year anniversary of the Deutschlandstipendium provided a special occasion to honour the celebration of the national support programme for students.
Sönke Meinen put the ceremony in the right musical mood with his impressive performance on the guitar. Once a scholarship holder of the Hochschule für Musik in Dresden, Sönke Meinen won the "Guitar Masters 2016" in November 2016.
Rector Prof. Dr. Hans Müller-Steinhagen congratulated the 272 award-winning students on their successful application and encouraged them to carry the idea of the Deutschlandstipendium further into society. Siavash Ghiasvand from Iran created another cultural highlight of the ceremony with his slam "Darkness is scary".
At the concluding "Get together" of the scholarship holders with their respective scholarship providers, an intensive exchange took place in a relaxed atmosphere about professional perspectives and possibilities for non-material support.
Past Network Meetings
"Healthy companies & motivated teams thanks to Positive Psychology in the workplace"
Program: here
On Wednesday, 22 March 2023 from 10:00 to 12:00, the supporter network meeting took place. Ms. Saskia Rudolph, Managing Director of Spiegelneuronen GmbH, gave an insight into positive psychology and the PERMA model in an entertaining lecture. Positive psychology is primarily concerned with the conditions for a satisfied life. However, these conditions can also be applied to work and management style. Positive psychology methods help teams to become more flexible and supportive, help employees to go above and beyond the call of duty, and support a higher level of commitment to employers. The keynote looked at topics such as New Work, Corporate Social Responsibility and cross-generational perceptions of work from the perspective of positive psychology too.
"Deutschlandstipendium digital - challenge and opportunities"
Program Sponsors Network Meeting 08. April 2022
On Friday, April 08, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., the next sponsors network meeting took place. It focused on the challenges and opportunities presented by the increasingly digital networking of funders and grantees. In keeping with the theme, this was a digital event via Zoom.
Networking and interaction are an important part of the Deutschlandstipendium and a motivation for many sponsors to support the program. In recent months, hygiene regulations and travel restrictions have made joint exchange more difficult in some cases, but have also led to new (virtual) forms of contact and created space for further joint networking opportunities. Against this background, we invited you to an open and uncomplicated video exchange, where you could talk about questions, experiences or wishes in the context of the Deutschlandstipendium under Corona conditions.
"Become more visible! How networking raises your profile"
27. November 2019, 09:00 to 13:30 , Dülfersaal
Programme: Network meeting for sponsors November 27, 2019
Networking is a central theme of the Deutschlandstipendium. It is very important to us to maintain and sustainably expand the network of sponsors and scholarship holders at the TU Dresden. The impulse workshop with Stephanie Rohac from "Kommunikation bewegt" gave both our sponsors and some scholarship holders a number of impulses. The first part of the workshop revolved around the topic of visibility in face-to-face situations. Participants received useful suggestions on how to introduce themselves to the other person in a short pitch and exchanged ideas in small groups. Afterwards, they practiced what they had just learned in small talk with other participants.
After a short break, the sponsors and fellows got together again in groups and collected together old familiar but also unusual networking opportunities. The central topic of the last workshop round was online visibility, especially in social media.
The day ended with a joint lunch, which the participants - in line with the workshop topic - used directly for joint networking.
network meeting for sponsors on 19 June 2019
"Best Practice and Workshop on New Formats of Networking"
19 June 2019, 09:00 to approx. 14:30 at Festsaal Rektorat, Mommsenstraße 11
Programme: NetworkMeetingSponsors_19.06.2019
Many of our sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium are not only active at the TU Dresden, but also support the program at other universities. Each university "lives" the scholarship differently and offers sponsors and scholarship holders various opportunities for exchange and networking. In addition, some sponsors are very active with their own events in the field of networking and idealistic promotion of young talents.
All the formats experienced - from joint bowling evenings to interdisciplinary research projects to company contact fairs - have their advantages and disadvantages and are interesting material for an exchange in our upcoming sponsor network meeting. On the basis of best practice examples presented, we worked with the participants to create the "ideal" future format for better networking of scholarship holders and sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium at the TU Dresden, which should be used from now on.
At the end of our workshop day we invited all participants to the highly exciting historical collection of dyes, which is unparalleled in Germany and through which Prof. Dr. Horst Hartmann led us.
On Wednesday, November 28, 2018, more than 30 interested sponsors and students of the Deutschlandstipendium of the TU Dresden met for a network meeting on the topic "Communicating and Networking".
The result-oriented exchange was accompanied and moderated by methods from Design Thinking by Susan Kindler (Coach Instructor, Systemic Business Coach, Management Trainer KindlerCoaching). The participants work together on how to further improve and promote communication between the stakeholders involved in the Deutschlandstipendium. Where does communication stuck and what works well and can be expanded?
We thank all participants for a very entertaining morning with exciting changes of perspective!
Network meeting for sponsors with AUGENHÖHE
Dec 07, 2017, SLUB Makerspace
Eye level - the world of work is changing. Sponsors and scholarship holders discussed together new ways in the working world of the 21st century.
Philipp Hansen from AUGENHÖHE was the moderator and initiator of the network meeting at the end of the year. He encouraged people to think about how, in the digital age, companies can be created that are successful and at the same time distinguish themselves through a humane working environment. With the AUGENHÖHE project, Hansen is creating learning spaces for people and organisations who, in times of digitalisation, are on their way to further developing their companies both humanely and economically.
The two films AUGENHÖHE and AUGENHÖHEwege show courageous companies - from small start-ups to corporations - who have already taken their first steps successfully. With excerpts from AUGENHÖHEwege, sponsors and scholarship holders were inspired to engage in dialogue about their own organisation and thus received new impulses for changing their own working environment.
Generation Y - What she really wants
20.06.2017, Lecture room of the Sächsische Landes- und Universitätsbibliothek SLUB
Generation Y" is pushing into the labour market, "Generation Z" is already in the starting blocks; and they tick differently than the generations before them.
Today, young people often bring with them a self-confident attitude to work and leadership that often surprises established managers. In the competition for young talent, regional, medium-sized companies in particular are called upon to question their established forms of leadership and cooperation and to update them in line with the times.
At the network meeting, 17 representatives of the sponsors discussed together with 12 scholarship holders about the integration and development of young talents of generations Y and Z, as well as their demands in everyday management life. The meeting took place in the form of an active workshop under the guidance of Rita Nerbe, managing director of the partner of parascout consulting & coaching GmbH, in the lecture hall of the Sächsische Landes- und Universitätsbibliothek SLUB.
Past Fundraising Campaigns
Since the Deutschlandstipendium was established in 2011, nearly 3,000 TU Dresden students have been awarded with this special funding. What they all have in common is strength of will, determination, commitment – and a good time with the Deutschlandstipendium!
For several years now, many of our current and former scholarship recipients have shown us in our Stips4Stips fundraising campaign that support in the Deutschlandstipendium is not merely a one-way street. They give something back and help to ensure that other students can receive funding.
Their exceptional fundraising has inspired us to challenge our alumni and current recipients to a MATCHING CHALLENGE, in which every donated Euro is doubled. But it’s not just called “MATCHING” – it’s also a “CHALLENGE!”
And the challenge is that our two sponsors, Carl Zeiss Digital Innovation GmbH and the Kanzlei POELLATH+, will not double the donation until the recipients and former scholarship holders have raised EUR 5,400 themselves. As soon as this sum has been reached, both sponsors will then make this into EUR 10,800 and double every additional Euro donated from then on. When this is combined with the money from the Federal Government (another EUR 10,800), we will then be able to award at least 6 additional scholarships. If we do not reach the EUR 5,400 mark, the sum will not be doubled.
a grand total: 5,787.42 euros
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has donated – you are all fantastic!

The campaign ran from June 16 to September 30, 2023, and only scholarship holders and former scholarship holders were eligible to donate.
Around 120 young people from Ukraine are studied at TU Dresden in 2022/23 and many more Ukrainian students have applied for a place to study in Dresden for the last winter semester. In order to give them a good start, the TUD's Deutschlandstipendium, with its DUAStip Challenge fundraising campaign, aimed to provide around 30 scholarships for students affected by the war in Ukraine from October 2022. To raise the necessary funds, the TU Dresden community received help from three business partners: Infineon, Carl Zeiss Digital Innovation and the law firm POELLATH from Frankfurt/a. M.
As is usual with matching funds, Infineon, POELLATH and ZEISS doubled every euro donated by those willing to donate. However, a challenge comes into play here: The three sponsors will only double the donation sum when at least a quarter of the total sum, i.e. 18,000 euros, has already been donated. Only when this donation target has been reached do the business partners jointly contribute a further 18,000 euros. And as always with the Deutschlandstipendium, the federal government then doubles everything once again.
The Matching Challenge was won with the maximum sum of 27,000 euros.
Donation Status (09/07/2022)
There are many good reasons to support the Deutschlandstipendium at TU Dresden with a donation: It creates cohesion and local networking, brings people together who otherwise would not have met, and it creates freedom for social commitment. Our sponsors and scholarship holders reveal further arguments for their support in their statements:
Supporting someone, giving them that much needed boost and security, accompanying them and trusting in their abilities - this is what sponsors of the Deutschlandstipendium facilitate. With this scholarship, high-achieving and socially committed students of TU Dresden receive financial support. The student is bolstered in their studies and able toeffectively apply themselves in their social activities.
This year we are celebrating ten years of the Deutschlandstipendium at Dresden University of Technology. With the campaign GEMEINSAM+10, we originally wanted to celebrate this anniversary by awarding ten anniversary scholarships. Thanks to the great support of many of our faculty, staff and alumni of the TU Dresden, we were able to award not only ten, but even 13 additional anniversary scholarships! We are very happy about this beautiful result and thank all generous donors from the bottom of our hearts for this great success of the campaign.
Sincere thanks to our donors!
Past Summer Partys
The summer party took place open air on June 16, 2023 in the "Sleeping Beauty" garden of the Barkhausen Building and offered a welcome opportunity to celebrate the current scholarship year 2022/23 with all its sponsors, scholarship holders, friends and alumni. Even the rain shower here and there did nothing to dampen the good mood and summer feeling.
Culinary delights included barbecue and salads from Podemus, which could be enjoyed together with a cool beer from Lohrmann's Brewery or an aromatic wine from Jacques' Wein-Depot Strehlen. A popcorn machine was available for dessert. Those who always wanted to try an algae smoothie got their money's worth at the algae bike from ALGENWERK. As a musical highlight Ju von Dölzschen played and also DJ Motrick turned out to be an absolutely danceable insider tip. With mini table tennis, beer pong and a donation wheel of fortune richly equipped by the sponsors also playful alternation was ensured. Besides, some funny souvenir photos were taken at the cool photo box.
We had a wonderful evening - despite the showers. We would like to thank our many helping hands, without whom this great party would not have been possible!

The first round anniversary of the Deutschlandstipendium was a welcome occasion for us to celebrate extensively and to venture into completely new territory: For the first time in the history of the TUD Deutschlandstipendium, there was an open-air midsummer festival in the "Sleeping Beauty" garden of the Barkhausen Building on June 21, 2022. In fantastic weather, around 200 scholarship holders, sponsors and friends of the Deutschlandstipendium celebrated the many small and large successes of the last 10 years, chatting, feasting and even dancing a little at the end. Details about the event can be found herProgramm.
To warm up and for a first exchange, sponsors and alumni of the Deutschlandstipendium met in the afternoon for the Walk'nTalk. In this format, two long-time scholarship holders introduce the main campus of the Dresden University of Technology. In addition to interesting facts and historical background information, the two students also included current events at the university in the 21st century in their tour. The participants also learned about the first railroad locomotive, the latest research reactor and the motorcycle ride in the Zeunerbau. More information is available hier.
The evening was opened with another premiere: At the first Science Slam of the Deutschlandstipendiat:innen, really brave young slammers dared to take the big Science Slam stage for the first time and shared their current studies and research with us in a very entertaining way. Chapeau and congratulations to the three finalists Katharina Hönicke, Thorgund Nemec and Sebastian Blume for their great performance! Finally, there was a fireworks display that was well worth seeing.
In the tradition of a Swedish Midsommar celebration, there was also a Tipspromenad with typical questions from the country and special questions about the Deutschlandstipendium at the TU Dresden. If you want to try your hand at it, you can find questions and solutions here: Tipspromenad
A huge THANK YOU goes to our many helpers from the scholarship holders and TUD colleagues - without them we would never have managed it! We would also like to thank our many sponsors, who generally make the Deutschlandstipendium possible in the first place, and in particular made one or two extra things come true at the Midsummer Festival through sponsoring and donations of money and goods. We would also like to thank the band OLUMA for the great live music, MA(H)L ANDERS and LisaLi for the delicious barbecue and cold dishes, Lohrmanns beer and Jacques' Weindepot in Dresden-Strehlen for the extremely drinkable beverages. Special thanks also go to Ralf Jentzsch from Mietmagazin for the patient advice, Frank Angermann from Tontechnik Dresden for the impressive surprise fireworks and to Anna-Maria Hantschke for the great photos!
Past Annual Events
Since 2011, the BMBF regularly invites the actors of the Deutschlandstipendium to the annual event for an exchange between all the universities involved in the scholarship program.
On 18 and 19 June 2018, the TU Dresden had the honor of being the host of the annual event together with the BMBF. The event was themed "Using networks, discovering talents.".
As part of the annual event in 2018, everything revolved around the topic of using and expanding networks. To this end, a network meeting was held for each of the actors involved in the scholarship program: sponsors, scholarship holders and coordinators. Innovative and open workshop formats such as the Future Lab and Barcamp enabled a creative and fresh gathering at all three meetings. As a result, existing networks have been expanded and plans for extensions and new formats have been forged at a regional and supra-regional level.
The entire event was rounded off with a plenary session in the Potthof-Bau, attended by around 400 guests, to hear, among other things, the address of Federal Education Minister Anja Karliczek and Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer. Afterwards, all guests were cordially invited to a culinary electrifying evening in the high-voltage hall on the campus of the TU Dresden.
