Studieninformation mal anders – New Perspectives for Prospective Students
Hello dear students and teachers,
the Working Group Study Information is a group of students from different
fields of study at TU Dresden. We inform students about our degree programs,
to support them in their choice of studies. To this end, we give presentations,
discussions and conversations, we provide personal insights into our degree programs and student life.
In contrast to the Central Student Information and Counseling Service, we offer personal insights into the studies. A large proportion of the students in the WG are involved beyond their studies or socially, which is supported by the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship.
If you would like to find out more about the students in the WG, visit and follow our Instagram channel. You can also use it to contact us.
Here are some excerpts from our presentations on different degree programs.
We look forward to answering questions in personal chats or during presentations at schools!
● What is student life in Dresden like?
● What do students do in between semesters or during breaks?
● Do you want to learn more about a specific degree program?
● Are you unsure whether you want to go to university, vocational school or maybe take a gap year?
If you think that your peers or your teacher could also be interested, let us know and we will contact your teacher or your school to organize a presentation on site. In our experience, it helps if you contact us.
Send us an email! It could look something like this:
Dear students of Studieninformation mal anders,
My name is ... . I’m a pupil at ... school.
I’m interested in the degree program ... .
My question is: ...?
Sincerely,
We look forward to replying and giving you the guidance you need :)
Our presentations take many different forms. We most frequently visit 11th and 12th grade classes for one or two periods.
Two to five of us from different degree programs will come to hold presentations followed by a discussion session, where the pupils have the opportunity to ask questions. You can let us know if there are certain aspects we should focus on. We also look forward to virtual advising or events outside of the school day.
For pupils, our perspectives and personal contact with students are important sources of information that can help them choose what to study. The purpose of our events is not advertising for a university degree, specific degree programs or TU Dresden as an institution. We offer personal impressions of our university experiences and this typically lands well with school pupils.
Do you think that your class or school would benefit from one of our presentations?
Send us an email at
.
Since spring 2020, we have also been holding our sessions via video conference and have had a very good experience with this. We would like to continue to offer this service and are happy to talk to school pupils throughout Germany. We are flexible as regards your video conferencing software (Zoom, Skype, etc.) and will be happy to coordinate with you.
Are you a student at TU Dresden who is interested in presenting your degree program to school pupils and chatting with them about it? Then register for this OPAL course: https://tud.link/9ew4. You will receive information about events taking place and are then free to decide if you would like to take part or not. We look forward to hearing from you! :)
Still not convinced? Here are some opinions from students and teachers:
"Your event helped me a lot, it's great to be able to ask questions directly to students."
"Thank you for the great event. It was good to hear things from a student's perspective."
"It was really well done and being able to talk to the students in particular gives you a completely different insight. Thank you very much! "
"As we are in secondary level 2, we award 15 points, which corresponds to an A+. Thank you for the authentic and likeable charisma, the comprehensive information, coupled with many everyday tips that make "survival" easier and support a realistic approach to future decisions."
