University Compliance Network meets at TU Dresden – Public panel discussion on September 25, 2025
On September 25 and 26, 2025, the 8th on-site conference of the University Compliance Network (HCoN) will be held at TUD Dresden University of Technology. Compliance stakeholders from universities and scientific institutions in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland will come together at this event. Professor Roswitha Böhm, Vice-Rector University Culture and Internationalization at TUD, will address the conference participants with a welcoming speech. Frank Pawella, Anti-Corruption Officer at TUD and one of the network's three spokespersons, is in charge of organizing the conference.
One of the highlights of the conference will be the public panel discussion entitled "Between Integrity and Surveillance. The Role of Compliance in Science.“ Four experts will discuss the topic of “university compliance” from different perspectives and address the following questions: What exactly does compliance mean in a scientific context? How can scientific independence be reconciled with institutional control? And how can compliance be effectively implemented in everyday university life?

Background: University Compliance Network
The University Compliance Network is an association of stakeholders in the field of compliance and integrity at universities, technical colleges, and non-university research institutions. The network represents 51 educational and research institutions from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Its objective is to discuss and develop the topic of compliance in the context of science and research in a comprehensive and profitable manner.
